Accountant

The role

The Accountant is the operational backbone of Azurium's Bookkeeping & Accounting service line. You own the monthly close cycle for a portfolio of US-based client books, ensure financial statements are accurate and auditable, and produce the clean data that the FP&A and CFO teams build their analysis on.

Bookkeeping at Azurium is not a back-office afterthought. The firm's analytical work is only as good as the books underneath it — which is why this role matters.

Why this role exists

Azurium delivers bookkeeping as a premium service to founder-led US companies. That requires accountants who can run a clean monthly close, navigate US GAAP fundamentals, and operate independently inside QuickBooks Online and similar platforms. The Accountant role is where that standard gets enforced, book by book, close by close.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end monthly close for 6–10 US-based client books: bank and credit card reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll journal entries, and intercompany.
• Maintain accurate general ledger and chart of accounts. Catch and resolve coding errors before they hit the financials.
• Produce monthly financial statements — P&L, balance sheet, cash flow — ready for review by the US team.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows: bill entry, payment runs, invoice issuance, AR aging follow-up.
• Coordinate with the US team via email on documentation requests, missing receipts, and clarifying questions. The US team owns the client relationship; you own the books.
• Support year-end activities: 1099 preparation, audit support, tax preparer coordination.

What we are looking for

• 3–6 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or audit. Big 4 or US-client outsourcing background strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. ACCA, CPA Australia, or US CPA progress strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP fundamentals. You do not need to be a US tax expert, but you should know how a US small business income statement is structured and why.
• Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks Online (required) and at least one of: Xero, Bill.com, Gusto, Ramp, Brex.
• Strong written English. Your day-to-day communication with the US team is in writing — email, Slack, written workpaper notes. Spoken English is not required for this role.
• Detail orientation. A misclassified $200 transaction matters as much to us as a $20,000 one.
